Mathilde-Lætitia-Wilhelmine Bonaparte was the daughter of Jerome, Napoleon's brother. She was married to Prince Anatole Demidov of Russia in 1841 and separated from him in 1845. She returned to Paris, where she became famous for her salon, which was attended by prominent French artists and authors.
