William Herbert Hudnut III was born in 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Princeton University, Union Theological Seminary, and received his D.D. from Hanover College. He also holds the LL. D. from Wabash College. Hudnut served as pastor of Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, Ind., from 1963 to 1972, and was a congressman from the 11th Indiana district. He has been mayor of Indianapolis since 1976.
