League of Women Voters of South Dakota.
It was not until the mid-1950s that a state League of Women Voters was organized in South Dakota. However, the LWV has been active in South Dakota since 1919 when the first local was presumably organized in Huron. Soon active local leagues were operating in Aberdeen, Brookings, Huron, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, and Vermillion. By 1967 there were six local leagues with 231 members.
