Klein, Calvin, 1942-
Variant namesBorn Richard Klein in the Bronx, New York to Jewish-Hungarian immigrants, Klein attended the High School of Industrial Art, and graduated at the age of 20 from FIT. After an apprenticeship with a suit manufacturer, he started his own company with a childhood friend. Klein was the first designer to receive outstanding design awards from the CFDA for both men's and womens wear in the same year.
