From late 1992 through 1993, Phil Jamison, coordinator of the Appalachian Music Program, Assistant Director of the Swannanoa Gathering, and teacher of music and mathematics at Warren Wilson College, documented the flatfoot, buckdance, and Charleston dancing styles of western North Carolina.
