National Christian Council of China and Chaplain to British embassy, Chungking, 1942-44; Archdeacon of Birmingham, 1944-47; Bishop in Egypt, 1947-52; Principal of Ripon Hall, Oxford, 1952-59; Bishop of Derby, 1959-69. Married, 1932, Madeline Gill. Died 8 November 1982.
