Charles Pearre Cabell (b. October 11, 1903, Dallas – d. May 25, 1971) was a United States Air Force general and Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (1953–1962). He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1925 and, after completing flying training, entered the Air Corps in 1931. Highlights of Cabell's military career include: service in the Panama Canal Zone with observation and pursuit squadrons; further training at the Air Corps Tactical School and Command and General Staff school; chief of the Photo Unit in the Office of the Chief of Air Corps; chief of the advisory council to the commanding general of the Army Air Forces in 1942. Late in 1943, General Cabell assumed command of the 45th Combat Bombardment Wing, and shortly thereafter became director of operations and intelligence for the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces. At the end of the War, he was assigned to Air Force headquarters and also to the United Nations as U.S. Air Force Representative on the Military Staff Committee. This highly-decorated officer was named director of the joint staff in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1951, was sworn in as deputy director of Central Intelligence in 1953, and retired in 1962.
