Esson, Louis, 1879-1943
Variant namesBorn in Edinburgh 1879, he was educated in Melbourne. During a visit to Europe he became friends with the Irish playwrights including Yeats and Synge. He turned to journalism. He is regarded as the founder of Australian drama. His output of published verse was small.
