Richard Nelson Gale (b. July 25, 1896, London, England-d. June 10, 1982), British Army general, began his military career in 1915. During World War II, he was deputy commander of the 1st Allied Airborne Army and later commanded British troops in the Egypt and Mediterranean Command and served as deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe. He received decorations from France, the U.S., as well as from his own country.
