Stretton, Alan, 1922-
Variant namesStretton had a varied career as a sportsman, lawyer, soldier, public servant and author. He was Chief of Staff of the Australian Forces in Vietnam, in 1969-1970. Stretton came to greatest public prominence as officer in charge of the relief operations in Darwin following Cyclone Tracy in December 1974.
