Variant namesEmory Holloway was a pioneering scholar of Walt Whitman whose biography of Whitman (Whitman, Whitman, an Interpretation in Narrative, Knopf, 1926) won the Pulitzer Prize in 1927, the first time that the Pulitzer was awarded to a book about a major literary figure.
