The Novelty Cutlery Co. had its headquarters in Canton, Oh., but had agents all over the United States. The firm specialized in made to order knives with custom designed transparent handles. Beneath the handle on one side were affixed a name, address, or other letters; designs or photographs were placed on the reverse side. By 1900, the company's collection of designs numbered more than 3,000. Customers could also select the type of blade they wanted for a knife.
