Kate Osann is an American cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Tizzy . Born in St. Louis, Osann grew up in New York City and was a graduate of Hunter College. She spent the early part of her career doing ads and illustrations for popular magazines like Collier's Weekly and the Saturday Evening Post . Osann was a regular contributor to Collier's, and it was here that her teen humor panel Tizzy first appeared. With the demise of Collier's in 1957, the strip was picked-up by NEA where it ran until 1970. Numerous Tizzy books were published during the late 1950s and 1960s, including Tizzy: That Loveable, Laughable, Teen-Ager (Berkeley, 1958), Tizzy (Scholastic Book Services, 1967) and Baby-Sitter's Guide (Scholastic Book Services, 1969).
