Enda Wyley was born in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin in 1966 and lived in Dublin most of her adult life. She received a B.Ed in English Literature from the Marino Institute of Education, Dublin and an MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. She married fellow poet Peter Sirr, and they had one daughter. Wyley began her career with twenty years as a primary school teacher. She has published seven collections of poetry as well as several books for children. Her awards include the Vincent Buckley Poetry Prize, the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship (2014), and the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award in Poetry (2026). Wyley is also a member of Aosdána, the Irish affiliation of creative artists.
