Broadwater County, Mont., farmer and public official.

Hugh Broderick was born in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1864, the son of John and Margaret Broderick. In 1870 Hugh and his mother travelled to Diamond City, Mont., to join his father. The family settled on a farm near Canton in the 1870s. John Broderick died in 1874. In 1887 Hugh went to work in the mines at Wickes. While there he married Mrs. Etta Bump, a widow with three children. They returned to farm in the Missouri River valley. Broderick served as a Broadwater County commissioner, as county road supervisor, and as administrator of the county hospital. Hugh Broderick died 5 Sept. 1949 in Townsend, Mont.
