Mormon pioneer and gifted mechanic who joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1841 and came to Utah in 1847. Harmon constructed the odometer invented by William Clayton, served a mission to England, and helped to colonize southern Utah.

Missionary for the Mormon Church and a Utah pioneer. Harmon was born in Pennsylvania and joined the Mormon Church in 1833. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1838, crossed the plains to Utah in 1848 after operating the Platte River ferry in 1847.
