Holmes, Emilie Rose Smedes, -1950
Variant namesEmilie Rose Smedes (died 1950) was the daughter of John Smedes, onetime president of St. Augustine's College, Raleigh, N.C. She married John Simcox Holmes (1868-1958) in 1909. Holmes was born in Coberg, Ontario, Canada, and attended the University of North Carolina, 1886-1888, and the Yale School of Forestry, 1903-1905. He was a farmer and forester.
