Diane de Poitiers was a French noblewoman and constant in the courts of Francis I and Henri II of France. At the age of 15 she married Louis de Brézé, seigneur d'Anet, 39 years her senior; she bore him two daughters. She assisted in the education of Francis I and Henri II, and despite being 20 years Henri's senior, became his mistress around 1538. After the death of Henri, his wife Catherine d'Medici had Diane banished from the French court.
