Adelina Patti was one of the most highly regarded opera singers of the 19th century.

Spanish-born soprano trained in New York City; by 1861 Adelina Patti was the leading operatic prima donna. In 1886 she married tenor Ernest Nicolini, who had sung opposite her in La traviata at her castle in Wales. He died in 1898.
