Bessie Coleman; January 26, 1892, Atlanta, Texas – April 30, 1926, Jacksonville FL; father was African-American and Native American, mother was African-American; worked in Chicago and became intertested in flying; moved to Paris in 1920 to get pilot's licence; On June 15, 1921, Coleman became the first woman of African-American and Native American descent to earn an aviation pilot's license and the first person of African-American and Native American descent to earn an international aviation license from the Fédération Aéronautique International; met with Anthony Fokker in 1922; was highly popular stunt pilot; died while doing a stunt
