Knight, Margaret E., 1838-1914

Margaret E. Knight (b. Feb. 14, 1838, York, ME–d. Oct. 12, 1914, Framingham, MA) is best known for her invention of a machine that folded and glued paper to form the flat-bottomed brown paper bags. Knight was awarded a patent in 1871 and invented many other devices.
