Boethius, -524
Boethius was a member of the Roman aristocracy who became expert in logic, mathematics, music, theology and philosophy. He was appointed to high office under Theodoric and executed for political reasons in 524/5. Boethius' "Arithmetica" served as an important textbook in the medieval educational program of the Quadrivium.
