Morgenstern, Soma, 1890-1976
Morgenstern made Alma Mahler's acquaintance in Vienna in the 1920s through their mutual friends Helene and Alban Berg. Like Alma, he fled Austria in 1938, and they encountered each other in Marseilles in 1940. Morgenstern emigrated to the U.S. in 1941, and lived in New York City. They apparently developed a closer friendship in Alma's later years, when she was also living in New York.
