Delta Sigma Rho--Tau Kappa Alpha

Delta Sigma Rho was founded in Chicago in 1906 as an honorary forensics society by representatives from eight Midwestern universities. By 1956 it had over 80 national chapters. Tau Kappa Alpha was founded in 1908 as an honorary forensics fraternity in Indianapolis, Ind., by Butler University student Oswald Ryan. Charter members were from Butler and four other Indiana colleges, and many early officers were affiliated with Butler. By 1958 it had 90 national chapters and women were admitted. The organizations merged in 1963 and held their first conference in Indianapolis in 1964.
