Macfarlane, Alexander, 1851-1913
Alexander Macfarlane (1851-1913), a Scottish-born professor of mathematics and physics, was a faculty member of the Department of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin from 1885-1894. He later went on to teach at Lehigh University from 1895 to 1908, where wrote a number of works on quaterions, vector analysis, and British mathematicians.
