Champollion-Figeac, M. (Jacques-Joseph), 1778-1867

Jacques Joseph Champollion-Figeac was an archaeologist, and professor of Greek at the University of Grenoble. Dismissed from his post and banished from the region by decree after the fall of Napoleon, he moved to Paris, where he continued his scholarly activities and publications. In 1849 he became the librarian of the royal collection at Fontainebleau.
