Duret, Théodore, 1838-1927

Théodore Duret was heir to the cognac house Duret et De Brie. He started his career in politics and the brandy business. Travelling to the Far East countries, he became an art collector, settled in Paris in 1872, and frequented the artistic and literary circles. He ultimately abandoned his early activities, and became an art critic and historian.
