McDonald, Charles James, 1793-1860

Charles James McDonald (1793-1860) graduated at South Carolina College in 1816 and was admitted to the bar in 1817. He served in the Georgia Assembly and was elected governor of Georgia in 1839. He is credited with saving the Western and Atlantic Railroad and improving the financial condition of the state government.
