Pocock, George, Sir, 1706-1792

In 1756, Sir George Pocock (1706-1792) who had been serving in India under Charles Watson since 1754, was promoted to vice admiral. After Watson's death, he took over and commanded the British naval forces during the Seven Years War. Popock returned to England in 1760, and in 1761 was made a Knight of the Bath and admiral. In 1762, he commanded the naval forces at the siege of Havana (1762, June 7 - Aug. 13). Pocock resigned his commission in 1766.
