Armando Diaz (b. Dec. 5, 1861-d. Feb. 29, 1928), Italian general and a Marshal of Italy, commanded the 93rd infantry during the Italo-Turkish War, and at the outbreak of World War I, assumed command of the 49th division and, later, the 23rd army corps. At the end of the War, Mussolini named him Minister of War, and he was promoted to Field Marshal. General Diaz retired in 1924.
