Biographical Note: John Barth, American author, was born in Cambridge, MD, May 27, 1930.
He received his B.A. (1951) and his M.A. (1952) from The Johns Hopkins University. Barth taught at Penn State University and SUNY, Buffalo before returning to Hopkins in 1973 as professor of English and creative writing. He is now Professor Emeritus at the University. Barth is the author of several novels including "The Sot-Weed Factor (1960), "Chimera" (1972), "Tidewater Tales (1987) and "The Last Voyage of Somebody the Sailor (1991). In 1972, Barth was the recipient of the National Book Award in fiction for "Chimera."
