Seven of the documents are in Spanish, six of which deal with land ownership in San Luis Obispo including a document by Manuel Micheltorena (also signed by Pablo de la Guerra), and land appraisals by John Michael Price, the second mayor of San Luis Obispo. Also included is a letter by the first mayor of San Luis Obispo Jose Mariano Bonilla. The remaining eleven items concern the activities of the San Luis Obispo Committee of Vigilance. These documents include the committee's agreement, which includes each member's signature; meeting notes of the committee; financial statements; an examination of a witness; and sentences of individuals. There are also two letters by Joaquin Valenzuela (one is in Spanish), which were written the day before he was hung for several murders, and a letter by County Sheriff Caston to San Luis Obispo's Board of Supervisors, describing how the San Luis Obispo Committee of Vigilance destroyed the county jail making it impossible to hold prisoners. The criminal Pio Linares is also mentioned in one of the documents. These documents are facsimiles of material held at the San Luis Obispo Historical Society.
