Hiram Leong Fong (b. Oct. 15, 1906, Honolulu, Hawaii-d. Aug. 18, 2004, Kahaluu, Hawaii), a U.S. Senator from Hawaii, graduated from Harvard Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1935. During World War II, he served as judge advocate of the 7th Fighter Command, 7th Air Force from 1942 to 1945. He was a longtime member of the Territorial legislature from 1938 to 1954, and vice president of the Territorial Constitutional Convention. Upon admission of Hawaii as a State, he was elected as a Republican to the U.S. Senate and served from 1959 to 1977.
