Author, Indian agent and ethnologist.
Henry Schoolcraft was an ethnologist, geologist, Indian agent, and glass manufacturer.
Author, ethnologist and Indian agent. Appointed the first Indian agent at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in 1822. Pioneered study of Ojibwa language and oral literature. Employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs 1822-1841 and 1847-1857.

Henry Rowe Schoolcraft, American explorer and ethnologist. From 1822 to 1836 Schoolcraft served as Indian agent and from 1836 to 1841 as superintendent of Indian affairs for Michigan. He published numerous books on Native Americans. His second wife Mary Howard Schoolcraft, an author, assisted her husband in preparation of his later works.
