Biographical History

Jules Feiffer was born January 26, 1929 in the Bronx, NY. He attended Art Student's League and Pratt Institute. He is married with two daughters. He is a play writer, cartoonist and satirist. His cartoons have appeared in the Village Voice>, New York City, Observer>, London and others. His cartoons are syndicated and distributed to more than one hundred newspapers in the United States and abroad. He is a member of the faculty of Yale University Drama School. Mr. Feiffer has won numberous awards and honors, including the Pulitzer Prize in 1986 for editorial cartooning. 1993 marked his official debut as a children's author with the publication of The Man in the Ceiling> . His books for children have been highly acclaimed by reviewers because of the feelings evoked and his minimalism and eloquence in words and drawing. American playwright, cartoonist, author, and illustrator Jules Feiffer was named the most promising playwright by the New York Drama Critics in 1966-1967 for his play, Little Murders .

Born on January 26, 1929, in the Bronx, New York, Feiffer has written over twenty plays and several novels; he has also created numerous books of cartoons and illustrated children's books. For decades Feiffer created a syndicated comic strip and contributed cartoons to the Village Voice (1956-1997), The London Observer (1958-1666, 1972-2000), and Playboy .

Jules Feiffer has won a Pulitzer Prize (1986) for editorial cartooning; an Obie for his plays; an Academy Award for the animation of his cartoon satire, Munro (1961); and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Writers Guild of America (2007) and the National Cartoonist Society (2003).
