Biographical History
Djuna Barnes provided a highly creative presence in the Paris literary scene of the 1920s. Soon after the success of Nightwood, however, she stopped writing, eventually returning to New York, where she lived the rest of her life as a near-recluse in her Greenwich Village apartment.
