Biographical History

Born in New York, Louis Heilprin Pollak attended Harvard College and Yale Law School. He became a key player in the struggle for civil rights, working for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and as an associate to Thurgood Marshall on the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education. He also worked as a lawyer for the State Department. From 1955 until 1978, he held positions at Yale Law School and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, becoming a judge in 1978. Judge Louis H. Pollak is the son of Walter H. Pollak, a prominent appellate and constitutional lawyer of his time
