Franck, Martine. Belgian Photograher. Born: Antwerp, 2 April 1938. Education: Attended primary schools in New York and Arizona, 1942-44, and Heathfield School, Ascot, England, 1947-54; studied at the University of Madrid, 1956-57, and the Ecole du Louvre, Paris, 1958-63. Family: Married the photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, q.v., in 1970. Career: First photographs, in China, Japan, and India, 1963; photographic assistant to Eliot Elisofon and Gjon Mili, Time-Life Photo Laboratories, Paris, 1964; freelance photographer, working for Life, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, New York Times, Vogue, etc., Paris, since 1965; also, photographer for the Theatre du Soleil co-operative, Paris, since 1965. Member, Vu photographers agency, Paris, 1970-71. Founder Member, Viva photographers Agency, Paris, 1972-79; Associate Member, 1980, and Member since 1983, Magnum Photos co-operative agency, Paris.
