Biographical History

Lord Jeffrey was educated at Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Oxford, became a lawyer and was M.P. for Edinburgh. He was a literary critic and with Sydney Smith and Henry Brougham founded the Edinburgh review, 1802, and was its editor for the next twenty-five years.
