Biographical History

Charles Wendell Colson (b. 1931) was an assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy from 1955 to 1956, and administrative assistant to Senator Leverett Saltonstaff in the U.S. Senate, from 1956 to 1961. He served as Special Counsel to President Nixon from 1969 to 1972, and was responsible for political liaison with organized groups whose objectives were compatible with those of the Nixon administration. His duties also included political analysis and lobbying on behalf of the administration. After leaving the White House, he served as a lawyer, writer and lay minister.
