Robert Bridges, 1858-1941, was born in Shippensburg, Pa. and graduated from Princeton in 1879.

He worked as a newspaper reporter, 1880-1887; literary critic for "Life," 1888-1890, and assistant editor and editor of "Scribner's Magazine, 1887-1930. He also published occasional prose and verse.
