Composed 1985. First performance Krakow, 20 June 1987, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra of Krakow, Szymon Kawalla conductor, Janucz Miryinski violin. Dedicated to the composer's husband, Clyde A. Smith.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
Nancy Van de Vate studied piano at Wellesley and the Yale School of Music and earned a Ph.D. in composition at Florida State University in 1968. Her chamber music compositions were published under her own name, and she used the pseudonyms Helen Huntley and William Huntley for other genres of music. Additionally, Van de Vate founded the International League of Women Composers in 1975, and served as its chairperson until 1982.
