Donald S. Russell (1906-1998) entered college at USC at age fifteen and graduated in 1925; after completing law school in 1928, Russell was admitted to the bar and began practicing in Union, S.C. In 1930, Russell joined the prestigious law practice of Nichols, Wyche and Byrnes of Spartanburg, S.C.; served as president of USC, 1951-1957; governor of S.C., 1961-1965; U.S. Senator, 1965-1966.
