Wohlberg, Meg

Meg Wohlberg's first job as an illustrator was in advertising, where she learned production and how to use direction in her work. She began illustrating children's books when that urge "could no longer be suppressed" (Kingman's "Illustrators...."). Wohlberg self-illustrated several books in the 1940s, but illustrated for many other authors thereafter.

Meg Wohlberg was born on February 6, 1905 in New York City. She worked as an adversiting illustrator during the 1930s before beginning her career as a children's book illustrator in the 1940s. She is the illustrator of dozens of children's books, including the Andy series by Jane Thayer (Catherine Woolley). Meg Wohlberg died on December 10, 1990.
