She attended the High School of Art and Design, received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York (1983), and a MFA from the University of California at San Diego (1985). Her teachers included Allan Kaprow, Eleanor Antin, Babette Mangolte, Jean-Pierre Gorin, and David Antin.
