Robert John Keller was born on May 25, 1913 in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He earned his B.E. in 1937 from Winona (Minn.) State Teachers College, an M.A. in 1940 and Ph.D. in 1947 from the University of Minnesota. From 1931-1940, Dr. Keller was a secondary school teacher in White Bear Lake and North St. Paul. He became a teaching assistant at the University of Minnesota in 1941, but left to serve in the Armed Forces during World War II (1942-1945). Dr. Keller returned to the University as a teaching assistant in 1945. He joined the faculty in 1947 as assistant professor; he was promoted to associate professor and associate director of the Bureau of Institutional Research in 1950 and to professor and director in 1952. Beginning in 1956, Dr. Keller was director of University High, a laboratory school at the University of Minnesota. He accepted the position of dean of education in 1964. Dr. Keller resigned his position as dean in 1970, but remained as a professor until his retirement from the University in 1982. Robert Keller died on July 7, 1997.
