1923 president of the All India Federation of Young Theosophists; 1925 president of the World Federation of Young Theosophists; 1936 co-founded the Kalakshetra academy; 1952 and 1956 nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha; 1955-1986 vice-president of the International Vegetarian Union; 1956 Padma Bhushan; 1962 pioneered the setting up of the Animal Welfare Board of India; 1962-1986 member of the Animal Welfare Board of India.
