Juan Francisco de La Bodega y Cuadra was born on May 22, 1774 in Peru. During his lifetime as a Spanish navigator, Bodega y Cuadra was was promoted in ranks from Spanish naval officer to Ship Lieutenant. A couple of his significant explorations were in 1775 and 1779 in the Pacific Northwest. He passed away in the early months of 1794.
