Son of Nathaniel and Samantha Brush, born at Bennington, Vt., May 10, ca. 1772; graduated at Dartmouth; settled in Marietta, Ohio. Came to Detroit in 1789; married Adelaida Askin, 1802; elected trustee of Detroit, 1803; treasurer of Mich. Territory, 1806; commanded territorial militia when War of 1812 opened. Bought Brush Farm (P.C. 1) from John Askin. Brush Street is named for him. Died ca. Dec. 18, 1813. MMQ (Blue card index)
