Sir Frederick McCoy, Palaeontologist and Naturalist, was born in Dublin, Ireland, 1817. He was Professor of Natural Sciences, University of Melbourne between 1854-99, Director of the National Museum of Victoria from 1858 and President of the Royal Society of Victoria, 1864. He died on May 13th, 1899.
